Mode interference in quantum joint probabilities for multimode Bose-condensed systems

چکیده

The method of defining quantum joint probabilities of two events is applied to a multimode system of trapped Bose-condensed atoms. The coherent modes are generated by modulating the trapping potential with an alternating field with a frequency in resonance with a transition frequency between two coherent modes. The system is subjected to nondestructive measurements randomly influencing the phase difference of the modes. The joint probability of observing two events, corresponding to the observation of two states, is calculated by employing the channel-state duality. The interference term in the joint probability can arise when the composite events form an entangled prospect and the system state is also entangled. This interference is due to the uncertainty induced by nondestructive measurements. PACS: 03.65.Ta, 03.75.Gg, 67.85.Jk

Topological Coherent Modes in Trapped Bose Gas

The report reviews the problem of topological coherent modes, which are nonlinear collective states of Bose-condensed atoms. Such modes can be generated by means of alternating external fields, whose frequencies are in resonance with the transition frequencies between the related modes. The Bose gas with generated topological coherent modes is a collective nonlinear analog of a resonant atom. S...

Quantum decision theory as quantum theory of measurement

We present a general theory of quantum information processing devices, that can be applied to human decision makers, to atomic multimode registers, or to molecular high-spin registers. Our quantum decision theory is a generalization of the quantum theory of measurement, endowed with an action ring, a prospect lattice and a probability operator measure. The algebra of probability operators plays...

Control of coherent backscattering by breaking optical reciprocity

Reciprocity is a universal principle that has a profound impact on many areas of physics. A fundamental phenomenon in condensed-matter physics, optical physics and acoustics, arising from reciprocity, is the constructive interference of quantum or classical waves which propagate along time-reversed paths in disordered media, leading to, for example, weak localization and metal-insulator transit...

Dynamic scheme for generating number squeezing in Bose-Einstein condensates through nonlinear interactions

We develop a scheme to generate number squeezing in a Bose-Einstein condensate by utilizing interference between two hyperfine levels and nonlinear atomic interactions. We describe the scheme using a multimode quantum field model and find agreement with a simple analytic model in certain regimes. We demonstrate that the scheme gives strong squeezing for realistic choices of parameters and atomi...

Fermionic phase space method for exact quantum dynamics

Numerical approaches are an indispensable part of endeavours to understand quantum many-body physics in condensed matter and AMO physics. In particular, there is a need for real-time, dynamical simulations, driven in large part by the progress in the control and flexibility of ultracold atom experiments, which has made the dynamically evolving quantum many-body state directly accessible. For bo...
